I want to write but I can hardly think. I drank a cup of very strong coffee this morning and then fell asleep on the couch for 3 more hours. The tissues are piling up and nothing is getting done. It’s just another part of life, we get sick.
About a month ago my son got poison ivy. He didn’t want to admit it and he didn’t want me to treat it. I kept begging him to let me put something on it. Finally he said, “Mom, I have this theory. You see, poison ivy is like a bee, if you ignore it, it will go away, but if you get all freaked out about it, it will sting you.” I said, “Oh, interesting theory but I think the poison ivy already stung you.”
Anyway, I bought some spray that was supposed to stop the itching but it didn’t. My son decided to stick with his theory. The poison ivy did spread a little, but it went away after a couple weeks. Very fast I thought, since I have had poison ivy that lasted 3 months and had to take steroids to get rid of it. He is sure his theory is right.
Last week my son caught a cold for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. He was getting really upset about this so I told him, “I have a theory, colds are like bee’s”, I didn’t have to say anything more. He endured his cold bravely, slept a lot, and was over it by the weekend. Just in time for me to wake up with a sore throat and a cough.
I said to my son, “I think I caught your bee”. He laughed. End of story.
And I’ve laughed, too, reading this story! 😀
I hope the sting subsides in no time.
